Scale
Crust
- 1ยฝ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ยฝ cup salted butter, melted
Layers
- 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1โ cup flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray. Line the pan with parchment paper allowing the paper to hang over the edges for easy bar removal later.
- Prepare Crust: In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter until fully incorporated, then press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Evenly drizzle the full can of sweetened condensed milk over the graham cracker crust, spreading it gently to cover the surface without mixing.
- Add Remaining Layers: Layer the butterscotch chips, followed by the semi-sweet chocolate chips, then sprinkle the flaked coconut evenly over these, and finally add the chopped pecans. Press down gently with a fork to ensure the layers stay together.
- Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the top is lightly golden and bubbly around the edges.
- Cool and Cut: Remove the pan from the oven and while still warm, carefully loosen the edges with a knife for easy removal. Cool completely on a wire rack before lifting out using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into 24 squares with a sharp knife.
Notes
- Using parchment paper with overhang makes it easy to lift the bars from the pan for cutting and serving.
- Pressing layers gently helps them adhere together but avoid mixing layers to maintain distinctions.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
- For a nut-free version, omit the pecans and substitute with extra coconut or seeds.
- Chilling before cutting can result in cleaner slices.
