Ingredients
Scale
Strawberries
- 2 lbs. fresh strawberries, rinsed and dried
Chocolate Coating
- 1 (12 oz.) bag of orange chocolate melts (Wilton or preferred brand)
Decoration Tools
- Wax paper
- Candy squeeze tube or zip-tight bag with small snip in corner
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries: Gently rinse and dry the strawberries with a paper towel to ensure no moisture remains, which helps the chocolate adhere properly.
- Melt the Chocolate: Place the orange chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl and melt according to the package instructions until the chocolate is smooth and creamy without lumps.
- Dip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the green leaves and fully dip it into the melted chocolate, covering all exposed berry surface. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the strawberry down.
- Shape the Carrot: Arrange the dipped strawberries on wax paper. When the chocolate has partially set but is still slightly soft, use a candy squeeze tube or a zip-top bag with a small snip to pipe green chocolate or icing to form carrot tops on each strawberry.
- Let Them Set: Allow the chocolate coating to harden at room temperature or refrigerate for 15-30 minutes until fully set and firm to the touch. Then serve or store accordingly.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are thoroughly dried after rinsing to prevent chocolate from seizing.
- If orange chocolate melts are unavailable, white chocolate with orange food coloring can be used.
- Store finished strawberries in a cool place or refrigerate to maintain freshness.
- Use good quality chocolate melts for smoother coating and easier melting.
- For piping, if you donโt have a candy squeeze tube, a small ziplock bag with a corner cut works perfectly.
