- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Press the tofu: Sandwich the block of extra firm tofu between paper towels and place two plates on top. Apply pressure by placing a heavy object, such as a 28 oz can, on the top plate. Let it press for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture, which is essential for achieving crispiness.
- Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) and allow it to heat up while you prepare the tofu, ensuring an even and quick cook.
- Cut the tofu: Remove the pressed tofu and cut it into cubes about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in size. Uniform pieces help to cook the tofu evenly.
- Coat the tofu with oil and cornstarch: Toss the tofu cubes in the avocado oil so each piece is lightly coated. Next, add the cornstarch and toss again to create a crispy outer layer during cooking.
- Season the tofu: Sprinkle the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt over the tofu cubes. Toss well to ensure every piece is evenly coated with the flavorful spices.
- Cook in the air fryer: Place the seasoned tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 13 minutes at 200°C (390°F), shaking the basket every 5 minutes to encourage even browning and crispiness on all sides.
- Check for doneness: The tofu should be firm and crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside. Remember that the tofu’s texture will harden slightly as it cools.
