Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough (homemade can also be used)
Filling
- 8 whole Eggs (or egg whites for lighter option)
- 1 cup Diced Ham (turkey or chicken can be used as a leaner alternative)
- 1 cup Shredded Allegro Cheese (or any melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella)
Seasonings & Others
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Bagel Seasoning (poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic powder), to taste
- 1 tablespoon Honey (optional, for boiling water)
Instructions
- Prepare dough: Thaw refrigerated pizza dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 20 minutes to achieve a fluffy texture.
- Cook eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk whole eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Scramble gently in a pan over medium heat until fluffy. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Boil water: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a tablespoon of honey to enhance the rise and add flavor to the bagels.
- Assemble bagel bombs: Flatten each dough ball into a circle. Spoon scrambled eggs, diced ham, and shredded cheese onto the center. Carefully pinch and seal the edges completely to enclose the filling.
- Boil bagel bombs: Drop each filled bagel bomb gently into the boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and allow excess water to drain.
- Bake: Place boiled bagel bombs on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle bagel seasoning over them. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and freeze: Allow the bagel bombs to cool completely. Wrap individually in plastic wrap or place into a freezer-safe bag for storage and freezing.
Notes
- You can substitute whole eggs with egg whites for a lighter option.
- Try using turkey or chicken instead of ham for a leaner protein choice.
- Any melting cheese such as cheddar or mozzarella can be used instead of Allegro cheese.
- The honey in the boiling water helps the bagels rise and adds a subtle sweetness but is optional.
- Ensure the edges of the bagel bombs are sealed tightly to prevent leakage of filling while boiling.
- These bagel bombs freeze well and can be reheated in the oven or microwave for a quick breakfast.
