Description

These Freezer Friendly Ham, Egg, and Cheese Bagel Bombs are a delicious and convenient breakfast option. Made with fluffy pizza dough filled with scrambled eggs, ham, and melty cheese, these bagel bombs are boiled for a perfect texture and baked to golden perfection. Ideal for meal prep and freezing, they reheat wonderfully for a quick, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough (homemade can also be used)

Filling

  • 8 whole Eggs (or egg whites for lighter option)
  • 1 cup Diced Ham (turkey or chicken can be used as a leaner alternative)
  • 1 cup Shredded Allegro Cheese (or any melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella)

Seasonings & Others

  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Bagel Seasoning (poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic powder), to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (optional, for boiling water)

Instructions

  1. Prepare dough: Thaw refrigerated pizza dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 20 minutes to achieve a fluffy texture.
  2. Cook eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk whole eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Scramble gently in a pan over medium heat until fluffy. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  3. Boil water: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a tablespoon of honey to enhance the rise and add flavor to the bagels.
  4. Assemble bagel bombs: Flatten each dough ball into a circle. Spoon scrambled eggs, diced ham, and shredded cheese onto the center. Carefully pinch and seal the edges completely to enclose the filling.
  5. Boil bagel bombs: Drop each filled bagel bomb gently into the boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and allow excess water to drain.
  6. Bake: Place boiled bagel bombs on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle bagel seasoning over them. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and freeze: Allow the bagel bombs to cool completely. Wrap individually in plastic wrap or place into a freezer-safe bag for storage and freezing.

Notes

  • You can substitute whole eggs with egg whites for a lighter option.
  • Try using turkey or chicken instead of ham for a leaner protein choice.
  • Any melting cheese such as cheddar or mozzarella can be used instead of Allegro cheese.
  • The honey in the boiling water helps the bagels rise and adds a subtle sweetness but is optional.
  • Ensure the edges of the bagel bombs are sealed tightly to prevent leakage of filling while boiling.
  • These bagel bombs freeze well and can be reheated in the oven or microwave for a quick breakfast.
