Description

This Honey Butter Chicken recipe is a quick and delicious 30-minute dish featuring crispy pan-fried chicken thighs coated in a sweet and savory honey butter sauce with garlic and soy. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, it combines tender chicken with a sticky, flavorful glaze that’s sure to satisfy any craving.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 800 g Boneless chicken thighs (or chicken tenders)
  • 2/3 cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil (or canola oil or vegetable oil)

Sauce

  • 100 g Butter (unsalted)
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce (light soy sauce)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating: In a large bowl or flat plate, combine the flour, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well to ensure even seasoning throughout the flour mixture.
  2. Coat the chicken: Add the chicken pieces to the flour mixture and toss or press gently until each piece is thoroughly coated with the seasoned flour.
  3. Pan-fry the chicken: Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, place the coated chicken pieces in the pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the chicken develops a crispy, golden-brown crust and is cooked through.
  4. Remove the chicken: Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate and set aside while you prepare the sauce in the same pan.
  5. Make the honey butter sauce: Melt the unsalted butter over medium heat in the pan. Stir in the honey, light soy sauce, and minced garlic. Cook for about 2 minutes until the sauce becomes bubbly and fragrant.
  6. Toss chicken in sauce: Return the chicken to the pan with the sauce and toss to coat each piece evenly. Cook for an additional 1 minute, allowing the sauce to cling to the crispy exterior of the chicken.
  7. Serve hot: Remove from heat and serve immediately. Enjoy the sweet and savory flavors of the honey butter chicken fresh and warm.

Notes

  • Use boneless, skinless chicken thighs for juicier results, or tenders for quicker cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to taste if you prefer sweeter or less sweet sauce.
  • You can substitute light soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free options.
  • If desired, garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for extra flavor and texture.
  • Cook chicken thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
