Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 800 g Boneless chicken thighs (or chicken tenders)
- 2/3 cup Flour
- 1 tsp Kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 3 tbsp Olive oil (or canola oil or vegetable oil)
Sauce
- 100 g Butter (unsalted)
- 1/3 cup Honey
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce (light soy sauce)
Instructions
- Prepare the coating: In a large bowl or flat plate, combine the flour, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well to ensure even seasoning throughout the flour mixture.
- Coat the chicken: Add the chicken pieces to the flour mixture and toss or press gently until each piece is thoroughly coated with the seasoned flour.
- Pan-fry the chicken: Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, place the coated chicken pieces in the pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the chicken develops a crispy, golden-brown crust and is cooked through.
- Remove the chicken: Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate and set aside while you prepare the sauce in the same pan.
- Make the honey butter sauce: Melt the unsalted butter over medium heat in the pan. Stir in the honey, light soy sauce, and minced garlic. Cook for about 2 minutes until the sauce becomes bubbly and fragrant.
- Toss chicken in sauce: Return the chicken to the pan with the sauce and toss to coat each piece evenly. Cook for an additional 1 minute, allowing the sauce to cling to the crispy exterior of the chicken.
- Serve hot: Remove from heat and serve immediately. Enjoy the sweet and savory flavors of the honey butter chicken fresh and warm.
Notes
- Use boneless, skinless chicken thighs for juicier results, or tenders for quicker cooking.
- Adjust the amount of honey to taste if you prefer sweeter or less sweet sauce.
- You can substitute light soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free options.
- If desired, garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for extra flavor and texture.
- Cook chicken thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
