Scale
Crust Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease removal of the bars.
- Prepare Crust Dough: In a bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 1 cup softened butter, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix until the dough becomes crumbly and well combined.
- Bake Crust: Press the crumbly dough evenly into the prepared baking pan to form the crust layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until it’s lightly golden and set.
- Mix Filling: While the crust bakes, whisk together 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1 cup corn syrup, 4 large eggs, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
- Add Pecans: Stir the 2 cups of chopped pecans into the filling mixture evenly to ensure a nice nutty texture in every bite.
- Assemble Bars: Pour the pecan filling evenly over the hot crust base immediately after removing it from the oven.
- Bake Bars: Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 30–35 minutes, or until the center of the filling is just set and no longer jiggly.
- Cool Completely: Remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan. This ensures the filling sets properly for clean slicing.
- Slice and Serve: Lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper and cut into 24 squares to serve.
Notes
- Make sure to allow the bars to cool completely before slicing to avoid a gooey mess and to help with clean cuts.
- Using parchment paper makes removing the bars from the pan much easier and helps prevent sticking.
- For a crunchy topping, you can toast the pecans lightly before mixing them into the filling.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
