Ingredients
Scale
Brownies
- 1 cup salted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
Chocolate Frosting
- 1/4 cup salted butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup 2% milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper and spray the paper lightly with non-stick spray to ensure easy removal of the brownies after baking. Set aside.
- Mix Brownie Batter: In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the melted salted butter and 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder. Blend until smooth and evenly mixed.
- Add Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 2 cups of granulated sugar to the butter-cocoa mixture and beat together. Then add the 4 large eggs and 4 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix just until combined, being careful not to overmix. The batter will be thick.
- Bake Brownies: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Once done, remove the brownies from the oven and let them stand for 15 minutes. The brownies should still be warm when you frost them.
- Prepare Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat together 1/4 cup softened salted butter, 1/4 cup 2% milk, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, and 3 cups powdered sugar until the frosting is smooth and well combined.
- Frost Brownies: Pour and spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the warm brownies. Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into pieces and serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to ensure the brownies stay moist and tender.
- Frost the brownies while they are still warm for easier spreading and better frosting adherence.
- Ensure the baking dish is correctly lined and sprayed to prevent sticking.
- For fudgier brownies, slightly reduce the baking time and monitor closely.
- Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
