Description

Peach Hibiscus Sunset Tea is a refreshing and vibrant summer beverage combining the tartness of hibiscus flowers with the natural sweetness of fresh peaches. This lightly sweetened iced tea is perfect for warm days and is easy to prepare with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers (whole or loosely packed)
  • 2 cups purified water

Fruit

  • 1 large fresh ripe peach (washed, peeled, and chopped into bite-sized cubes)

Sweetener

  • Honey or sugar, to taste

Instructions

  1. Simmer Hibiscus Flowers: In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of purified water and 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to extract the flavor.
  2. Steep the Tea: After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat. Cover it and allow the hibiscus flowers to steep for 10 to 15 minutes, ensuring a deep, rich flavor develops.
  3. Prepare the Peach: While the tea steeps, wash and peel the large peach. Then chop it into bite-sized cubes for easy mixing and sweet infusions.
  4. Strain the Hibiscus Tea: Once steeped, strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, removing all hibiscus flowers and any solids to leave a clear, vibrant liquid.
  5. Combine Peach and Tea: Add the chopped peach pieces into the strained hibiscus tea and stir gently to integrate the fruit’s natural sweetness and flavor.
  6. Sweeten the Tea: While the tea is still warm, stir in honey or sugar to taste. Adjust the sweetness based on your preference.
  7. Chill and Serve: If you prefer your tea cold, allow it to cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice for a refreshing summer drink.

Notes

  • Substitute peach with mango or nectarine if desired for a different fruity twist.
  • Adjust the steeping time to make the tea stronger or milder according to taste.
  • Use purified water for the cleanest flavor.
  • Add fresh mint or a slice of lemon for an extra layer of freshness.
  • Store the tea refrigerated and consume within 2-3 days for optimal freshness.
