Description

A creamy, cheesy dip inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich, loaded with tender roast beef, sautéed onions and green peppers, and a blend of cheeses. Perfectly baked until bubbly and golden, this flavorful dip is ideal for sharing at parties or as a delicious snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb roast beef deli meat, sliced and chopped into ¼ inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (1 brick, room temperature)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 8 slices provolone cheese, chopped into ¼ inch pieces (or 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper (or to taste)

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Green onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an oven-safe baking dish or skillet with cooking spray and set it aside, ensuring an even non-stick surface for baking the dip.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the diced onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes until lightly caramelized. Stir in the chopped green bell pepper and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the peppers become tender, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  3. Prepare Cheese Mixture: While the veggies cook, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded mozzarella, and chopped provolone cheese in a medium bowl. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
  4. Mix in Roast Beef and Veggies: Add the chopped roast beef deli meat, sautéed onions and peppers, salt, and black pepper to the cheese mixture. Stir together until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Optionally, reserve a tablespoon of the mixture for garnish.
  5. Assemble Dip: Spread the dip evenly into the prepared baking dish or skillet. If reserved, sprinkle the reserved roast beef and sautéed vegetables over the top for an attractive garnish.
  6. Bake the Dip: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15-18 minutes until the dip is hot and bubbly. Remove the foil and continue baking uncovered for an additional 2-3 minutes to lightly brown the surface.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley and sliced green onions over the hot dip. Serve immediately with sliced baguette, tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables for dipping and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best flavor, use freshly sliced roast beef deli meat; thicker slices can be chopped down to ¼ inch pieces as suggested.
  • Room temperature cream cheese blends more easily and prevents lumps.
  • You can substitute provolone cheese with Swiss or additional mozzarella if preferred.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently before serving.
  • This dip pairs well with a variety of dippers such as toasted bread, chips, or crunchy veggies.
