Description

Enjoy a hearty and delicious Sausage Gravy Crescent Roll Breakfast Pizza made with a flaky crescent roll crust, savory sausage gravy, and melted cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Perfect for a satisfying breakfast or brunch, this easy-to-make recipe combines classic flavors with a convenient baking method.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Sausage Gravy

  • 0.5 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup whole milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Crust: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or sheet pan. Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the dish, making sure to seal the seams. Bake for 8 minutes until the crust is lightly golden.
  2. Cook Sausage: While the crust bakes, cook the ground breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Do not drain the grease as it will add flavor to the gravy.
  3. Make Sausage Gravy: Sprinkle the flour evenly over the cooked sausage and continue cooking for 1 minute, stirring constantly to cook the flour. Slowly whisk in the whole milk, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens, about 3–5 minutes. Season with black pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble Pizza: Spread the hot sausage gravy evenly over the pre-baked crescent roll crust in the baking dish.
  5. Add Cheese Toppings: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the sausage gravy layer.
  6. Bake to Melt Cheese: Return the assembled pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Let the pizza cool slightly, then slice into 12 squares and serve warm.

Notes

  • Make sure to seal the seams of the crescent dough to prevent the gravy from leaking out during baking.
  • Using whole milk helps create a richer, creamier gravy.
  • Leftover pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best texture.
  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the sausage while cooking.
  • Fresh parsley garnish adds a nice color contrast and freshness but is optional.
