Ingredients
Scale
Cake
- 1 Angel Food Bundt Cake (homemade or store-bought, fully cooled)
Filling & Topping
- 16 oz Cool Whip, thawed
- 2 ½ cups diced fresh strawberries
- 2 ½ cups mini marshmallows
- Optional: sliced strawberries for decorating
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake: If you are using a homemade angel food cake, make sure it is completely cooled before you begin assembling the dessert. This helps maintain the cake’s structure when layering.
- Prepare the Strawberry Mixture: In a large bowl, use a fork to mash the diced strawberries gently, releasing their natural juices which will flavor the filling.
- Make the Cream Mixture: Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip and mini marshmallows into the mashed strawberries, combining them evenly without deflating the whipped topping.
- Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate the mixture for 20 minutes to allow it to thicken and develop flavor.
- Prepare the Cake Layers: While the cream mixture chills, carefully cut the angel food cake horizontally into three even layers using a serrated knife.
- Assemble the Cake: Place the bottom cake layer on your serving plate and spread an even portion of the cream mixture over it. Top with the middle cake layer and repeat spreading the cream mixture, then place the top cake layer.
- Finish Assembly: Spread the remaining cream mixture evenly over the top and sides of the entire cake to frost it beautifully.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled cake for at least 90 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the filling to firm up for easy slicing.
- Decorate & Serve: Optionally, garnish the cake with fresh sliced strawberries before serving to add color and extra freshness.
Notes
- Ensure the angel food cake is completely cooled before slicing to prevent crumbling.
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
- The marshmallows add a fun chewy texture and sweetness to the cream filling.
- Chilling the cake helps it hold its shape and makes slicing easier.
- This dessert is best served within 24 hours for optimal freshness.
