Ingredients
Scale
Watermelon Lemonade
- 4 cups fresh watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes (peeled and deseeded)
- 8 fresh lemons, juiced
- 1/4 cup simple syrup or liquid honey
- 4 cups cold water or sparkling water
- Ice, as needed
- Lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Watermelon: Chop the watermelon into 1-inch cubes, carefully removing the peel and any large seeds to ensure smooth blending.
- Juice Lemons: Squeeze the juice from 8 fresh lemons, making sure to remove seeds and keep the juice ready for blending.
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the watermelon cubes, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and simple syrup or honey. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform.
- Strain the Mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp and create a smooth watermelon lemonade concentrate. You should have about 4 cups of concentrate.
- Serve: To serve, mix equal parts of the watermelon lemonade concentrate with cold water or sparkling water in a pitcher, adding ice to chill. Alternatively, fill each glass halfway with concentrate, add ice, then top up with water or sparkling water. Garnish with lemon slices for a vibrant finish.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe watermelon for the best natural sweetness.
- Simple syrup can be made by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over low heat, then cooling.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup or honey according to taste.
- Sparking water gives this drink a fun fizz, but plain water is equally refreshing.
- Straining is optional if you prefer a pulpy, smoothie-like consistency.
- Keep the lemonade chilled and consume within 1-2 days for freshness.
