Description

Refreshing and naturally sweet Watermelon Lemonade made from fresh watermelon cubes, freshly squeezed lemons, and a touch of simple syrup or honey. Blended and strained to a smooth concentrate, this thirst-quenching summer drink is served cold with water or sparkling water over ice for a perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Watermelon Lemonade

  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes (peeled and deseeded)
  • 8 fresh lemons, juiced
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup or liquid honey
  • 4 cups cold water or sparkling water
  • Ice, as needed
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Watermelon: Chop the watermelon into 1-inch cubes, carefully removing the peel and any large seeds to ensure smooth blending.
  2. Juice Lemons: Squeeze the juice from 8 fresh lemons, making sure to remove seeds and keep the juice ready for blending.
  3. Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the watermelon cubes, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and simple syrup or honey. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform.
  4. Strain the Mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp and create a smooth watermelon lemonade concentrate. You should have about 4 cups of concentrate.
  5. Serve: To serve, mix equal parts of the watermelon lemonade concentrate with cold water or sparkling water in a pitcher, adding ice to chill. Alternatively, fill each glass halfway with concentrate, add ice, then top up with water or sparkling water. Garnish with lemon slices for a vibrant finish.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe watermelon for the best natural sweetness.
  • Simple syrup can be made by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over low heat, then cooling.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup or honey according to taste.
  • Sparking water gives this drink a fun fizz, but plain water is equally refreshing.
  • Straining is optional if you prefer a pulpy, smoothie-like consistency.
  • Keep the lemonade chilled and consume within 1-2 days for freshness.
