Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes, peel and large seeds removed
- 8 fresh lemons
- 1/4 cup simple syrup or liquid honey
- 4 cups water or sparkling water
- Ice, as needed
- Lemon slices, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Watermelon: Chop the watermelon into 1-inch cubes, carefully removing the peel and any large seeds to ensure a smooth beverage.
- Juice the Lemons: Squeeze the fresh lemons to extract all the juice needed for the lemonade base.
- Blend Ingredients: Combine the watermelon cubes, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and simple syrup or honey in a blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
- Strain the Mixture: Pour the blended watermelon lemonade mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp and solids, yielding approximately 4 cups of watermelon lemonade concentrate.
- Serve: Mix equal parts watermelon lemonade concentrate and cold water or sparkling water in a large pitcher over ice. Alternatively, fill each glass with half a cup of concentrate, add ice, and top with water or sparkling water. Garnish with lemon slices and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use chilled watermelon and lemons for the best refreshing flavor.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup or honey according to taste.
- For a sparkling version, substitute still water with sparkling water for a fizzy drink.
- Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours; stir well before serving.
