Description

Refreshing and naturally sweetened Watermelon Lemonade made with fresh watermelon, lemon juice, and simple syrup. This cool beverage is perfect for hot summer days, offering a delightful balance of fruity sweetness and tart citrus flavor, served chilled with ice and optionally topped with sparkling water for a fizzy twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Watermelon Lemonade Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes (peeled and deseeded)
  • 8 fresh lemons, juiced
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup or liquid honey
  • 4 cups water or sparkling water, chilled
  • Ice, as needed
  • Lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Watermelon: Chop the fresh watermelon into 1-inch cubes, carefully removing the peel and large seeds to ensure a smooth blend.
  2. Juice the Lemons: Squeeze the juice from 8 fresh lemons until you have enough lemon juice for the recipe.
  3. Blend Ingredients: Combine the watermelon cubes, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and simple syrup or honey into a blender. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and homogenous.
  4. Strain Mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher. Use a spoon to press the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible. This will yield approximately 4 cups of watermelon lemonade concentrate.
  5. Serve: To serve, mix equal parts of the watermelon lemonade concentrate and cold water in a pitcher. Add ice to chill. For a sparkling version, substitute water with sparkling water. Alternatively, pour 1/2 cup concentrate per glass over ice and top with water or sparkling water. Garnish with lemon slices as desired.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup or honey according to taste.
  • Use sparkling water for a fizzy, refreshing variation.
  • Ensure to remove seeds from watermelon to avoid bitterness and texture issues.
  • Keep the lemonade chilled and serve immediately for the best flavor.
  • Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; stir well before serving.
