Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup self-raising flour (or 1 cup plain flour + 2 tsp baking powder)
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup yogurt
Optional
- Egg wash (1 egg, beaten)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180ยบC (350ยบF) to ensure it’s ready for baking the rolls.
- Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine the self-raising flour and yogurt. Stir until a dough forms, making sure all the flour is incorporated.
- Knead Lightly: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and bring it together gently to form a cohesive ball, taking care not to overwork it.
- Shape Rolls: Cut the dough into even-sized pieces. Shape each piece into small mini loaves or rolls according to your preference.
- Apply Egg Wash: If using, brush a little beaten egg over the tops of the rolls for a glossy, golden finish.
- Bake: Place the rolls on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until they have risen and turned golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the bread rolls warm or allow them to cool and enjoy later.
Notes
- You can substitute self-raising flour with plain flour and baking powder if needed.
- Yogurt adds moisture and tenderness to the bread; Greek yogurt or natural yogurt work best.
- For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free self-raising flour blend.
- Egg wash is optional but gives a nice golden sheen to the rolls.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
